Literature Review/External Sources

Qur’an Literature Review and External Sources

Given our position as two non-Muslims doing an analysis on the principal religious text we provide some sources for those who may also have some unfamiliarity with the Qur’an as a text and Islam as a faith. While the provided resources are to our knowledge as reliable there are numerous other options that can also attribute to one’s understanding. Our chosen translation can be accessed here.

For the primary part of this project below are sources we used in order to clarify our understanding of health, wellness, and disease in the Qur’an.

A Concept Analysis of Spiritual Care Based on Islamic Sources

Health-Promoting Verses as mentioned in the Holy Quran

Historical Perspectives on Health – Early Arabic Medicine

MSU Muslim Studies Program

The Spiritual Medicine of Early Muslims

The Study of the Various Types of Healing and Their Relationship with Prayer as Explicated in the Quran and the Tradition

Quran Reading – Quranic Verses of Healing

Lastly, while our project did not include an analysis of the hadiths they do provide further insight into this topic and can be accessed online here.
